Making Mealtimes Easier for Parents & Kids
Hi, I’m Mateya, founder of Brightberry and a mum of two.
Like many parents, I quickly learned that mealtime isn’t just about food: it’s about teaching, patience, and a whole lot of cleaning up.
Why is this so hard!?
When my daughter started solids, I was excited to watch her explore food.
But I soon realised the frustration of poorly designed kids' tableware:
❌ Bowls tipped over too easily
❌ Suction didn’t hold
❌ Plates made scooping difficult
❌ Tiny portions didn’t grow with my child
As an industrial designer, I knew that good design should solve problems, not create them. So I decided to fix it.
A Family of Designers on a Mission
I shared my frustration (and my first sketches) with my husband, who is also an award-winning industrial designer.
Together, we knew we could create something better. Tableware that actually worked for kids and make mealtimes less stressful for parents. So, we got to work.
Our First Breakthrough: The Bowl That Actually Works
TheOne™ Suction Bowl & Spoon Set was where it all began. Every detail was designed with intention:
✔ Inward curved walls
to help little ones scoop food without pushing it over the edge.
✔ A strong suction base
to keep the bowl in place—so more food stays in the bowl instead of on the floor.
✔ Two ergonomic spoons
one for the parent, one for the baby learning to self-feed.
Parents loved it, so we kept going!

After our bowl and spoon set, we tackled other frustrating mealtime challenges:

✨ A Suction Sticker for highchair trays that don’t hold suction bowls

I never set out to win awards... I just wanted self-feeding tableware that worked. But along the way, Brightberry has been recognised with many awards, including:
Australian Good Design Award (2021, 2022)
New York Gold Product Design Award (2022).
