2 Easy Halloween meal ideas your kids will love

Halloween spooky meal ideas by Brightberry

Halloween food is supposed to be fun and spooky, but it doesn't mean it has to be sweet and full of sugar! So, to help curb the sugar overload, we at Brightberry got two easy-to-make healthier meals that are as fun and appealing as sweets.

Spooky Mummy Pizzas

Ingredients:
  • For the crust: white toast/tortilla/baked pizza base
  • Tomato sauce
  • Black olives
  • Mozzarella cheese

Directions:

Mini mummy pizzas are easy and fun to make with various options for the crust and decorations made with sliced Mozzarella cheese and black olives.

For the example above, I used white toast for the crust, but you can also use flour tortilla or pre-baked pizza base. Cut the round pizza shape with a cookie cutter or tumbler glass.

Then spread a tablespoon of pizza sauce on each crust, and place two pieces of sliced olives for the eyes.

Cut thin strips of mozzarella cheese for the mummy look and place them out to look like mummy bandages.

Now the critical part. Bake the pizzas on the upper grill setting for only a few minutes. Once the cheese starts to melt, remove the pizzas from the oven - if overbaked, the bandages would melt together and lose definition.

You can serve mini spooky pizzas on Brightberry's non-divided suction plates.

Spooky Spider Sandwiches

Ingredients:

  • A choice of fresh toast
  • Ham & cheese or spread
  • Cucumber for spider legs
  • Mini tomato for the eyes

Directions:

Spooky Spider sandwiches are perfect for making them together with your little one. Plus, you can easily adjust any ingredient to make this meal appealing to your little one.

I used a round cookie cutter to cut the ham & cheese sandwich into a spider shape.
I cut the cucumber into wheels, cut them in half and removed the seeds with a spoon. I then placed the legs around the side and two mini orange tomato slices on top for the eyes.

I used wholegrain toast, but you can use white, gluten-free or any other toast you like. Instead of ham & cheese, you could use cheese spread, hummus, pumpkin or add more veggies. For the legs, you could also use colourful capsicum.

I hope you and your kids love these two easy-to-make kids Halloween meals.
